Vicky Lee Hipora Stark Born 28.2.1967 and spent her early years at Ratana Pa, Wanganui. Holds a Certificate in Proficiency in Dressmaking and is a graduate of Nga Puna Waihanga Maori Arts, Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic. A founding member of 'Kauwae', the National Maori Women Artists exhibiting collective, she has also worked as a Gallery Assistant at the Auckland City Gallery.

Vicky is sought after for her design and construction skills in costuming, in both film and television. Vicky was a finalist in the internationally recognised Nelson Wearable ArtAwards in 1997. Skilled in traditional weaving techniques and introducing intense colour through the use of commercial dyes, Vicky pushes the boundaries of woven form into the realms of contemporary fine art sculpture. Those skills were recognised by Creative New Zealand/Te Waka Toi who awarded her an Artists Developmental Grant.
