Saffronn has been acclaimed at 26, for her energetic and confident use of movement and the 'gleaming impasto' of her paintings. She paints using a visual language of colour, texture and mark making, intuitively placed to construct a visual language of identity, experience, ancestry and memory. She says of her latest works, " What is important to me as a Maori Artist is the potential for marks to generate notions of space both within and outside of the physical reality of the painted field. For me marks are the binders of the concepts. Marks can impart notions of Maori continuum and negotiate the cultural complexities that define diverse Maori realities. Marks can offer a perception of the complexities of identity, planet specific, geo-specific, whakapapa specific, human specific, gender specific and construct specific".
