| June never takes for granted the privilege of living and working within
her tribal area. Her ancestors are her inspiration . Work encompasses
painted canvases, mixed media, book illustration and graphic design. An
inspired artist and businesswoman, she sees art and self determination
as providing employment for Maori. The Maori Women's Development Board
awarded June the "Best Small Business Award" in 2001. Signature Series: The people of the land have always left their marks to record important events about their societies. Throughout history the petroglyphs of the past are the graffiti of today. This series is about the importance of those marks as a statement of identity |
