Colleen E Waata-Urlich MFA (hons) BAA, JP

Born 18.11.39, Te Kopuru, Northern Wairoa, Tai Tokerau/Northland, Aotearoa / New Zealand.
Formative years: Oturei Marae Settlement and later the Oturei Block, bordering the Ripiro Beach and the Tasman Sea. Life with the extended whanau *, centred around Oturei Marae. Involvement with the Marae continues as an appointed Trustee and active committee member.
Involved in a number of Maori Art organisations: Toi Maori Aotearoa - committee member of Te Atinga - Contemporary Maori Art National Committee; Kaihanga Uku Maori Clayworkers Assoc; Co-ordinator for Kauwae, National Maori Women Artists - promoting excellence and exhibition opportunities for Maori women artists; Regional Liaison person for Nga Puna Waihanga Tai Tokerau.
Master of Fine Arts (Hon) Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland University
and Bachelor of Applied Arts Tai Tokerau / Northland Polytechnic.
Holds Trained Teacher qualifications.
An appointed Justice of the Peace and Marriage Celebrant.
