The Lapita series is inspired by the 4,000 year old
ceramic tradition of the Pacific with its distinctive dentate patterning
and impressed motifs repeated to construct a design field of regular
banding around the vessels. Here the Lapita design principles are reinterpreted
onto a series of tall vessels and sculptural forms, using Lapita based
motifs that have continued their evolution throughout the Pacific on
materials such as tapa cloth, weaving, tattoo and carving.
