Reflecting customary cultural practice and examing the female principle within the Maori Cosmogonic Myth, provides the artist with an endless source of inspiration.
Within the Maori Myth, the elements of clay, water and fire are referenced, lending validity to and an acceptance of clay, as a strong, contemporary, artistic expression.
Past works concentrated on vessel forms; particularly Waka Kakano-seed and tuber pots from the traditional planting practice of saving crop seeds and tubers from season to season.
Mauri Stones referenced the traditional practice of sacred stones placed near the gardens to concentrate the growing energies on the planted crop.
